From Our Guides
Guide Tips — 20 Years of Family Tour Experience
Visit Featherdale First
Children have the most energy in the morning. Arriving at Featherdale at 9 AM secures the first koala holding slot, and kangaroos are most active in the morning. Animals get sleepy in the afternoon and photos don't come out as well.
The Scenic Railway is Safer Than You Think
Many parents worry about the 52-degree incline. But the cars are fully enclosed with seatbelts. The descent takes about 4 minutes, and we've taken guests aged 4 to 84. Kids usually find it the most exciting part of the tour.
Autumn (March–May) is the Secret Season
More comfortable temperatures (15–22°C) than summer, and fewer crowds. The deciduous trees in Leura and Blackheath turn spectacular shades of red, orange, and gold. Kids love collecting the fallen leaves too.

Insider Knowledge
Hidden Tips — What Most Tourists Miss
Koala Holding: Book the 10 AM Slot
Koala holding is limited to 2 sessions daily (10 AM, 2 PM). The 10 AM slot ensures kids experience it when they're most excited, before the koalas get sleepy.
Leura's Hidden Family Restaurant
Main street cafes are always crowded. Leura Garage has a spacious garden where kids can play while parents enjoy their meal in peace.
The Secret Family Photo Spot
The main Echo Point platform is too crowded. Walk 50m to the left for a hidden photo zone with fewer people and a better angle on the Three Sisters.
Cloudy Days Are Not Bad
Many families are disappointed by cloudy weather. But mist usually clears by 10–11 AM, and misty photos are often the most atmospheric and beautiful.
Common Mistakes
Mistakes to Avoid — Blue Mountains Family Tour
Booking a Large Coach Tour
CriticalLarge coach tours take 40 minutes to load from multiple hotels, travel with 40+ strangers, and spend only 20 minutes at each stop. Children get bored, and bathroom breaks are rushed. The price difference from a private tour is smaller than you think.
Not Putting Kids in Comfortable Shoes
CriticalEcho Point and Scenic World have uneven walking tracks. Kids in sandals or heels start complaining within 10 minutes. Always prepare comfortable walking shoes.
Not Bringing Snacks
ImportantDuring the 10-hour itinerary, children get hungry frequently. Without snacks in the car, kids may start fussing before you reach the next stop. Prepare snacks, water, and their favourite drinks in advance.

Customer Reviews — Blue Mountains Family Tour
Park Family
We travelled with our 5 and 8 year old children. The guide was amazing with the kids — played animal trivia in the car, made sure they were comfortable, and even carried our youngest when she got tired at Echo Point. Featherdale was the highlight — both kids held a koala! Worth every dollar.
Kim Family
Family of 4 with a 3-year-old toddler. We were worried about the long day but the guide adjusted everything perfectly. Extra breaks, earlier lunch, and the toddler even napped in the car on the way back. The private tour made all the difference — no rushing, no strangers.
Lee Family
Best family day of our Sydney trip. Our two teenagers loved the Scenic Railway and the guide included an extra stop at Govetts Leap which was stunning. The flexibility to adjust the schedule meant no one was bored or exhausted. Highly recommend for families.
Choi Family
Three generations — grandparents (70s), parents (40s), and kids (6, 9). The guide managed to keep everyone happy, which is not easy! Grandparents enjoyed the gentle pace, parents loved the views, and kids were obsessed with the kangaroos. A perfect family tour.
